Transcendence of Barriers

In the mail I received a disturbing piece of junk mail full of divisive fear-mongering, so I cut it up and created a positive piece of artwork about skill, leadership, and possibility for all. African Americans were not hired to pilot commercial airplanes until the 1960s when the Supreme Court unanimously ruled against this particular discrimination. The postcard I received in 2023 was pushing back against the deliberate inclusion of more Black pilots, who currently make up less than 1 percent of all pilots. It was fun to make the postcard into the opposite of the original messaging.
