Ceramic mosaic
I have spent countless hours scouring the shores of Lake Michigan searching for beach glass, fossils and interesting rocks. I love to spend time with Holy Spirit worshipping, praying and pondering while beach combing. This piece captures what it could look like for the stones to cry out according to Luke 19:40.
In this passage, Jesus is returning to Jerusalem and the people are cheering for Him and waiving palm branches. The Pharisees tell Him to quiet the people. Jesus explains if he tells the people to be quiet, the rocks will cry out in praise!
This mosaic consists of hand-formed and hand-dipped ceramic clay pebbles grouted with sand on a ceramic backboard. The glazing effects mimic glistening wet pebbles and fossils on a sandy beach. I had so much fun exploring the use of bold colors and also subtle value shifts!
