“Ephphatha” means “Be opened”—a word spoken by Jesus to heal and restore. This painting is a visual response to that call: an invitation to come out of hiding. Using contrasting tones, the piece explores the tension between concealment and revelation, fear and courage, silence, and speech. The darkness is not villainized—it’s where we’ve learned to survive—but the light is where we begin to live. Ephphatha is not just about being seen, it’s about being known, and still being loved.
This work is for anyone who has felt muted, buried, or afraid to show up whole. Be opened.
