Egg on the Wall

Molly Ovenden

Mixed media – boiled egg, rubber bands, food safe dye, vinegar, light, emulsion

While decorating Easter eggs, I marvel at how the colours deepen, the longer the egg stays immersed. When the layers of dye are held in the light against the dark and light grey walls, the colours change based on the light. These walls actually look purple and green in certain light. I wonder how my “colour” deepens or is altered when I remain in the Light–or shine it into the Dark as though the light or dark were dyes. How might my proximity and perspective shift based on the present light I am basking (or hiding) in?
