All these marks are experiences that form an individual. You may see a face and a body, but deep inside, there are feelings, thoughts, and circumstances that form who we are. We are a complex mix of our heritage, what we experience growing up, and the decisions we make as adults.

I didn’t know much about my father, and in this painting, I imagined his life as a complex mix. You don’t know him, yet you know that the things you do come from him. Can you relate to an absent father? Nevertheless, we are sure that “Even if my father and mother abandon me, the Lord will hold me close.” Psalm 27:10 NLT
