The Eye Is the Lamp

Eyes can be very expressive, known popularly as the windows to the soul. They often reveal a story; a “telling” of the person depicted or photographed. I love to shoot portraits, seeking to capture the mood and character of a subject. In the Bible, the disciple, Matthew, had much to say about the spiritual nature of the eye. “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are unhealthy,  your whole body will be full of darkness. If then, the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!” Matthew 6:22, 23 NIV
