You’re Part of Something Bigger

Something is happening among artists.

In churches and studios, homes and neighborhoods, prisons, schools, coffee shops, and community spaces, people are learning to create with God and bring their creativity into where they live.

And they’re finding each other.

God Loves Art is a part of a growing movement of people learning to create with God and bring creativity into everyday life, relationship, community, and culture.

This is bigger than a course. Bigger than any one artist, project, church, or city.

“I feel a greater sense of artistic freedom. I was putting myself into unnecessary boxes… I learned how proud God is of us trying. He is not judging but inviting us to partner with Him.”

—Dennis H. • Meridian, Idaho

Look What God is Building

Often it begins as a singular act of generosity.

One artist shares what they’re making. People gather around a table. Creativity finds its way into a neighborhood, workplace, or community.

Across this movement, people are creating, gathering, serving, experimenting, and participating in ways they couldn’t have planned.

Some pour into one person at a time. Others gather communities of artists. Some play in art ministry for years or decades; others are brand new to both art and ministry.

There’s room for all of it. Success is never measured in numbers.

“Ministry, regardless of the type, is about people. Don’t despise small beginnings.”

—Michaela E. • Highlands Ranch, Colorado

It Starts Where You Are

Movement begins when you see what is already in your hands from a different perspective.
Angela was already hosting a monthly art night when she took our Foundations Art Ministry Course. The course helped expand her understanding of what her gatherings could become.

“I was already hosting a monthly art night, but Foundations helped organize my thought process surrounding those art gatherings. As I facilitate, I am praying the Lord will touch the hearts of those participating in a deep, meaningful way.”

—Angela Q., Missionary • City Undisclosed

Creativity Belongs to Everyone

You really can create meaningful times for gathering, teaching, designing, writing, composing, or opening a little space for artists, simply through your love for God and people. The rhythm can be structured or informal, daily or once a year, volunteer or paid. God will equip you in ways you cannot imagine.

This is what it looks like in real life.

Every story is different. People rediscover their own voice and creativity. They meet fellow artists who understand why making matters so deeply, and they follow where God leads.

You can experiment, start ministries, host art exhibitions, collaborate, deep-dive into city projects—or simply take the next step in front of you.

Stories From the Movement

A Simple, Portable Art Display System Using Paper Clips and Binder Clips

An inexpensive, flexible way to exhibit matted artwork without framing everything. When Amy and I began organizing art exhibits for the residents in the prison where we teach art, we needed a hanging system that was affordable, portable, easy to set up, and simple enough for volunteers to help with. We also need to bring […]

How Nature’s Beauty Inspires Art with Heather Dickinson

Meet: Heather Dickinson “I create, because my Father in Heaven creates. I am my Father’s daughter,” Heather says. We love to celebrate and introduce you to graduates of our Foundations Art Ministry course. These artists have put in a lot of work and we are extremely proud of them, grateful to have them in our God Loves Art community, and excited to see where God […]

“I recently joined an art group and, as a result, become part of a network of local artists—a wonderfully validating experience and something I wouldn’t have considered prior to this course.”

—Charlotte H • Queensland, Australia

These stories reveal something larger than any one person’s experience.

A Life Together

Artists tell us again and again how unusual it is to find a place where creativity, honesty, experimentation, ministry, faith, and belonging can coexist. We don’t think artists should have to choose between them.

Every month, artists from around the world meet online. We create, talk, share scripture, hear what each other is working on, and pray for each other in real time. You don’t need to have something impressive to share, or anythiing at all. You can simply show up. By making visible what God does through ordinary artists, we open our eyes to what God’s already doing in us.

“I finally feel seen and heard by other Christian artists! It has been such a blessing to find others in Christ who want to connect and create with Him.”

Creativity Does Not Need to Prove its Usefulness

Creating with God can move outward in beautiful ways.

But the value of creativity is not production, ministry, impact, healing, or results we can see.

Creating is valuable itself.

“God opened my eyes to the fact that He made me creative not only to serve other people or purposes, but to actually meet HIM!”

—Juliana A. • Chemnitz, Germany

Through Foundations, Juliana came to understand art ministry less as a particular result and more as a process with God. That matters to us.

We believe creativity can powerfully serve people, build community, speak truth, and bring beauty to the world.

We also believe beauty does not need to justify itself.

Creativity Made Visible

Our juried online exhibits invite artists from around the world to respond to a shared theme.

Artists aren’t required to be part of God Loves Art to submit artwork.

Our exhibits represent artists from all over—including the prison residents where we teach art.

Exhibits create conversations across mediums, cultures, and experiences.

We make room for beauty, mystery, truth, grief, joy, and questions.

A Place to Begin

For many, our Foundations Art Ministry Course is where something shifts in major ways.
It’s our core course for creatives—a place to explore the relationship between creativity and faith, understand what God does through creativity, and put that understanding into practice.
Foundations is for people making their first journey into art, and for artists who have decades of experience. More than 135 men and women from around the world have graduated from the Foundations course.
You don’t need to have an established art ministry or know exactly where the course will lead you.

“I’m excited to begin with simple ideas and watch them grow. I’m excited to see people being transformed through art and the love of God. And I am looking forward to encouraging other artists and building a supportive community.”

—Julie S. • Carmel, Indiana
